[地域紹介]
関東地方は本州の中東部に位置し,東京・埼玉・神奈川・千葉・群馬・栃木・茨城の1都6県から成ります.日本最大の平野である関東平野が半分以上を占め,首都東京を中心に人口密度の高い地方です.東京湾沿岸には京浜工業地帯・京葉工業地域が延び,各種の産業が発達しています.
The Kanto district is located in east central part of Honshu, and consists of the Tokyo Metropolis and six prefectures, Saitama, Kanagawa, Chiba, Gumma, Tochigi and Ibaraki. Japan's largest plain, the Kanto Plain, occupies more than half of the district. Kanto is densely populated especially in Tokyo. The Keihin Industrial Zone and the Keiyo Industrial Region are spread out along Tokyo Bay, where various kinds of industries are flourishing.
